Roosevelt hosts International Culture Festival

It was an evening of discovery and fun as Roosevelt High School opened its doors to the community for the 2nd annual International Culture Festival on May 16. Those in attendance explored the diverse cultures and languages of the Roosevelt community through food samples, table displays, hands-on demonstrations, music and a world fashion show. Approximately, 100 students participated as booth creators, booth workers, dancers and models. More than 200 more students, parents and staff members attended the event this year.

“Each year it grows larger, and we hope to have more countries and cultures represented next year,” said Lynnette Perez, librarian at Roosevelt.

This year, students and staff took attendees through a cultural journey into Argentina, Colombia, Congo, France, Germany, Honduras, Iraq, Ireland, Japan, Korea and more. From sampling foods to getting hands-on in workshops, the event fostered wonderful memories and learning experiences for all.
