Sensory paths offer interactive outlet for Wetmore students

There’s an interactive new addition waiting for students at Wetmore Elementary School. Sensory paths now line the pre-K, kindergarten and first-grade halls, giving students the opportunity to re-focus their energy between classes. A sensory path is a series of guided movements that help burn excess energy and develop core motor skills.

Wetmore PTA members purchased the supplies and cut out and placed the shapes and instructions with the help of staff over the summer.

“We are so excited about our new sensory paths,” said Wetmore principal Catherine Leach. “Thank you to the awesome PTA members and teachers who volunteered to cut out the letters and pictures and bring these sensory paths to life.”

The new sensory paths include instructions for squats, pushups, hopping between water lilies, jumping jacks and more.
