A Walk to Remember

Northwood Elementary School’s Marcy Hildebrand has taught fifth grade in the same classroom for the last 23 years.

The end of the school year is one of her favorite times. That’s because graduating seniors come back for one last trip down memory lane.

“It’s pretty amazing,” said Hildebrand. “I mean, they are going to college and they still remember things we taught them.”

A couple dozen MacArthur High School seniors came back to Northwood for cookies, memories and one more hug from the people who helped make them who they are today.

They looked over old class pictures.

They took new pictures with old friends.

They sat in Mrs. Hildebrand’s class and talked about the color-coded clip system she created.  The desks seemed a bit smaller, but the excitement was bigger than ever. The teachers were beaming with pride seeing their little students all grown up.

“You always hope and pray they are going to go to college or get a good job out of high school. That they are going to be able to take care of themselves, and, look at them! They are making plans and fixing to have a life way beyond anything we could imagine.”

Congratulations to the Class of 2021; your teachers are so proud of you.
