Krueger community shows how #NEISDcares

NEISD cares. It’s something we’ve said since the start of the pandemic. But it will continue to be true, well after this pandemic has passed. The community surrounding Krueger Middle School is proof of that caring spirit that is so important to us.

Family Specialists on North East ISD campuses work with families in need. Leticia Aldana is the Family Specialist at Kruger. She’s recently been floored by how much her Falcons have stepped up.

Here are just a couple of examples of how the Krueger community has stepped up.

“On December 24th, one of our Falcon families lost their house to a devastating fire. Luckily no one was hurt, but their possessions were at a loss. Krueger was notified after the winter break, and the faculty and staff quickly went to work. It seemed like every day someone was bringing in donations for this family. They brought multiple bags of clothes, jackets, cleaning supplies, even LYSOL, towels, sheets, comforters, toilet paper, detergent, and more. We had one faculty member who brought in 10 plus bags of donations. Our family has already made two trips to Krueger for the donations and are very appreciative of the faculty and staff here at Krueger.”

When asked what this community means to that family, this was their response.

“When I hear community, what do I think of?! I think of a neighborhood that all comes together and is support for each other. I feel very, very grateful for all the support I have received. I feel blessed that people who don't even know my family or me have donated to help make life a little easier for us! We can never say thank you enough!”

If that wasn’t enough, another Falcon family simply asked Aldana, “What do your students need?”

“They provided 20 large H-E-B bags full of snacks and food items for 20 students, two filled backpacks, and several toys, arts and crafts and games. Students, who were chosen, were shocked, happy, appreciative and excited as they were given the snack bags and backpacks on Friday, before the MLK holiday. They couldn’t wait to show their families.”

These are just two recent examples of Falcon families stepping up. But this isn’t new. This IS the Krueger community. This is the spirit that Aldana is so thankful for at Krueger.

“I have been a Falcon for 14 years. I moved my family from another side of town because I fell in love with the culture, love and unity that Krueger Middle School has. The community is very involved and want to help in any way they can. It gives me hope that our kids will be OK. There are others looking out for them. There are others that care about their wellbeing and willing to help them reach their potential. Our Falcon family has always answered the call for students and their families in need. We give what we can and sometimes more just to make sure that our Falcons are able to fly.”

Thank you, Krueger community, for showing how #NEISDcares.
