Third grader motivates others with debut book

Third grader motivates others with debut book 1 Jordin McFee is only 8 years old, but he’s well on his way to accomplishing his dreams of being a writer. In December, the Steubing Ranch Elementary School third-grader published his first book with the help of his mother, Rachel Hinton. It’s called Not Too Little to Play and it’s the first of what he hopes will be many original stories.

“This is my first step,” said McFee. “I’ve always wanted to make a comic book in my life, so I thought I should start with normal chapter books for kids with a moral.”

Jordin is a dreamer who believes everyone should have equal opportunity to go after what you want in life, even when doubt sets in or critics voice their opinion. The young author hopes the children who read his book will find the confidence to believe in themselves.

“It doesn’t matter your age or size, where you live or your color,” said McFee. “You should always be able to do what you love to do. Don’t listen to what other people say. Listen to what you say because they don’t know you. You know you best. Only you. You can’t give up on your dream.”

Jordin’s dreams are here to stay. He plans to continue writing picture books and hopes to create a comic book series in the years to come.
