NEISD Clothes Closet scores donation from MacArthur linemen

Sports is about much more than winning and losing. Athletes across North East ISD gain crucial life skills on and off the field. Hardships and victories help mold them into goal-driven adults who serve and lead others. MacArthur High School football coach Jason Hendricks is setting his players up for success on and off the field by inspiring them to pay it forward in their community.

Hendricks challenged MacArthur’s offensive line to gather donations for the District’s Clothes Closet, which is run by the NEISD Council of PTAs.

“We wanted to do it for the kids in our community and teach the players they can be selfless like a good offensive lineman should be,” said Hendricks. “Do what is best for others to be successful. Give your NEISD teammates a chance to win.”

Hendricks grew out his beard over the summer, and as an added incentive, he agreed to shave it all off if they reached their donation goal. It didn’t take long for MacArthur’s O-Line to come up with bags full of socks, underwear, pants and shirts for the Clothes Closet.

“They put together an entire truck bed of donations in a single weekend and jumped at the opportunity to drive over after practice and make the donation,” said Hendricks. “They learned how the NEISD PTSA Clothes Closet serves the kids firsthand. We are excited to start another donation project as the weather cools and the need for jackets and pants increases during football season.”

Thank you for paying it forward and showing how #NEISDcares!
