The Class of 2020 was dealt a disappointing blow amidst the COVID-19 health crisis, missing out on memorable end-of-year activities like spring performances, prom and Summa Cum Laude ceremonies. The staff at Wilshire Elementary School know how important these rights of passage are for all students, so they decided to go the extra mile to celebrate seven graduating seniors of Wilshire faculty.
“All the educators here do so much and go the extra mile every day for their students, especially right now during this pandemic,” said Veronica Mauro, Wilshire Administrative Assistant. “So not only do these students deserve to be celebrated, but so do their parents.”
Seniors were invited to Wilshire to “walk the red carpet” as staff cheered them on and gifted them with a basket of goodies. While seniors and their families adjust to an altered graduation ceremony, the Wilshire family wants them to know they are loved.
“We are a family who always look out for one another,” said Mauro. “We always know as a Wilshire family that we can lean on one another.”
