In an ongoing effort to improve safety measures currently in place, North East ISD will require that students use only clear backpacks at every high school and middle school. Students and parents have had several questions about the specifications for these bags, so the District has developed a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document.
Clear backpacks will be available at NEISD middle and high schools. If you need assistance obtaining a clear backpack, contact your NEISD Family Specialist.

The following is a letter from Interim Superintendent of Schools Dr. Sean Maika:
Dear NEISD Parents,
Many of you have provided feedback about the District’s requirement for clear backpacks in middle and high school. We want you to know that we have heard your comments and have considered them carefully.
You have shared how some brands easily break, and having to replace them mid-year is inconvenient and frustrating. We do not want this to become an extra burden for you, but we also want to make sure that we are doing everything possible to keep our students and staff safe.
At this time, the District will continue to require our middle and high school students to use clear backpacks in the 2019-2020 school year. We know that this measure alone is not the answer, but more so part of a comprehensive security plan.
The District has been researching clear backpacks that are more durable and cost effective. We have recommendations to pass along and some even offer a protection plan.
