KSAT students compete at State Civics Fair

Students at Krueger School of Applied Technology (KSAT) presented their voices and ideas at the 2019 “Speak Up! Speak Out!” State Civics Fair in Austin on Friday, Feb. 8. KSAT students represented North East ISD and San Antonio while sharing their ideas to improve or implement change in their community.

“Speak Up! Speak Out! forced you to step out of your comfort zone,” said 6th grade student Katie Bass. “You have to think about ways to make your community better.”

Middle and high school students from across the state shared their passion for their civics project during a showcase at the Texas State Capitol. Two teams from KSAT presented their ideas to judges on school safety and recycling. When they weren’t presenting, Senator Jose Menendez hosted the students in the office for pizza. He also took time to answer questions and talk more about his role as a state senator.
