San Antonio Police Chief visits MacArthur High School

MacArthur High School Junior Dylan Brewer was one of 50 eager students participating in a question-and-answer session with San Antonio Police Chief William MacManus. During his visit Chief MacManus shared some of his own experiences in law enforcement, and also fielded questions from the students.
“I was so eager to listen in on the presentation, as a law enforcement student I was eager to meet the San Antonio Chief of Police,” said Brewer. “The Chief’s words were really inspiring. I like how upfront and honest he is and how he doesn’t sugar coat anything.”
McManus was appointed San Antonio’s Police Chief in March 2006. He oversees a department of more than 2,000 sworn officers and more than 800 civilian positions. North East ISD strives to build partnerships with community leaders and positive role models.
“This was a great group of students who were up to speed and asked great questions,” said MacManus. “Their interest in law enforcement has to be nurtured and the information to satisfy that interest will either grow or diminish, but it’s good that we were able to talk about it so they can follow and strive in that direction it or look elsewhere.”
