Johnson’s Smart Driving Club recognized for safe driving PSA’s

Members of the Johnson High School PTSA Smart Driving Club were recognized during halftime of the varsity football game between Reagan and Johnson high schools on Friday, Sept. 21. Students involved in the club were applauded for their work in two PSA’s that focused on practicing safe driving. The videos will be played on the jumbotron during every football game at Heroes Stadium this fall.

With the assistance of North East ISD’s Media Production team, students worked to help develop and create the videos encouraging drivers to make the right choice behind the wheel, and set a good example for others while driving.

“There are so many people getting into crashes from texting and driving,” said Vanessa Quetzeri, Johnson PTSA Smart Driving Club Vice President. “I believe if we can get the message out there and keep spreading awareness, it will affect the right people. Everybody could use a reminder to make safe choices behind the wheel no matter how young, old or experienced the driver may be.”

The Johnson PTSA Smart Driving Club works on campus and in the community to help educate and remind drivers and passengers the risks they take if they get distracted behind the wheel.
