MacArthur JROTC cadets complete Army Basic Training

Five MacArthur JROTC cadets have successfully completed the challenge of Army Basic Training. The outstanding cadets took advantage of the Army National Guard and Reserves Split Option program that offers them the opportunity to complete basic training the summer after their junior year.

They departed for training in June and spent 10 weeks undergoing Basic Combat Training, or BCT. There are three main phases in BCT. The JROTC cadets completed a variety of challenges during training, including field training, first aid, and navigation tests. At the end of Basic Training, all five MacArthur cadets received their gold Army stars and earned the title of United States Soldier. The cadets are now back at school, and ready to lead the Brahma Battalion to success.

The five cadets who completed BCT are Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Ana Barba, Cadet Sergeant Major Seth Ruffing, Cadet Captain Daniela Munoz, Cadet Sergeant Juan Hernandez, and Cadet Sergeant Jesus Carrasco.
