The Churchill Winner's Circle way of life
Like many of our campuses, red ribbons can be spotted across Churchill High School in honor of Red Ribbon Week. It’s the nation’s largest and longest-running drug-use prevention campaign, and it’s a time of action for the Winner’s Circle Club.
Seniors Samantha Small and Beau Anthony joined the student group that advocates for a drug and alcohol-free lifestyle when they were sophomores. Three years later, they serve as president and vice president of the club, respectively.
The club spent time hanging red ribbons across campus and have pep-rally style visits planned to Eisenhower Middle School and Huebner Elementary School to spread their message. Visiting with younger students and sharing a drug free message is a personal highlight for Samantha, along with the many friendships she’s made with her fellow club members over the years.
“I have met so many good friends through getting involved in Winner’s Circle. It’s been a lot of fun to make new friends and get to know people in the process.”
Beau was looking for a chance to get involved on campus and make a difference. The Winner’s Circle gave him all that and more.
“Joining the soccer team and seeing what a community can do, I made me want to be a part of a community at Churchill that pushes for better lifestyle choices,” said Beau. “Being in Winner’s Circle brings up a lot of interesting conversations and interactions. Being able to explain myself and where I’m coming from with my choices, I feel like I’m able to make a difference.”
