Setting scholarship records #theNEISDway
The Class of 2024 has an impressive record to its name. Graduating seniors in the AVID program earned an incredible $20 million in scholarships – setting a new North East ISD AVID record!
Additionally, every senior in this group – across our NEISD high schools – is heading to college or the military. That’s an impressive 100% success rate!
This group is particularly impressive when you consider where they started four years ago, taking courses online during the pandemic.
“The fact that these students persevered, graduated, and have post-secondary plans with the most scholarship money is a testament to the amazing coordinators we have across our campuses,” said AVID Director Gretchen Salinas.
AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. This college-readiness program is designed for students who desire to go to college and are willing to work hard.
AVID is available as an elective at 18 NEISD middle and high schools. This program helps students chart their path to college, from applying for financial aid and scholarships to learning about time management and researching the right career path for them.
