NEISD Board of Trustees approves more than $8 million in raises

The North East ISD Board of Trustees approved more than $8 million in raises for teachers and staff during a special board meeting Monday, June 20.

Compensation Breakdown:

-Teachers and librarians will receive a 2% of midpoint increase equaling $1,150.

-Increase the starting salary for teachers and librarians with zero years of experience to $55,300.

-Adjust the professional/administrative pay scales by 0.5%

-Eligible nurses and counselors will receive a 2% pay increase based on the new midpoint of the new 2022-2023 pay scales.

-All other professional/administrative employees will receive a 1% pay raise based on midpoint of the new 2022-2023 pay scales.

-Adjust the classified pay scales by a minimum of 2%

-Eligible bus assistants, bus drivers, custodians, food services assistants, special education assistants and instructional assistants will see starting pay adjusted to better align with the current market.

-That group will also receive a pay raise of at least 3% based on the midpoint of the new 2022-2023 pay scales.

-All other eligible classified employees will receive a 3% pay increase based on the midpoint of the new 2022-2023 pay scales.

Retention Supplement:

-The plan also includes a Fall Retention Supplement for eligible employees to be paid in November using ESSER funds.

In addition, the District does not anticipate any increase in health insurance premiums.

The Board of Trustees and Executive Staff will continue to look for ways to boost compensation in the future. If enrollment projections and attendance rates are higher than anticipated, employees may receive additional compensation in the form of either a salary increase or an additional retention incentive.
