Fifth graders visualize their future at NEISD magnets

Sharon on a tour at DATA at Ed White Middle School DATA students lead their tour through the gym area

Sharon Howard loves math. It’s her favorite subject and a passion the Bulverde Creek Elementary School fifth grader is interested in pursuing in middle school.

With three equally incredible options at North East ISD, Sharon is taking advantage of Shadow Days to walk the halls, tour classrooms and get a feel for each campus. She recently went on a student-led tour of the Design and Technology Academy (DATA) at Ed White Middle School. DATA students also sat on a panel to share their experiences and answer questions from students and parents.

“I learned about all of the electives and honor classes and the art classes look really cool,” said Sharon. “The 3D art and the green screen rooms and how they get to make their own video games, stickers and emojis. Taking a tour helped a lot.”

Between DATA at Ed White, the Krueger School of Applied Technology (KSAT) at Krueger Middle School and the STEM Academy at Nimitz Middle School – students and parents have three specialized magnets to choose from. Sharon’s love of all things math and numbers has her longing for a future at DATA.

At NEISD, there’s something for everyone. Reserve your seat at an NEISD magnet today by visiting neisd.net/cte. The deadline to apply for the 2022-2023 school year is Feb. 7, 2022.

If you'd like to attend an upcoming Shadow Day or Magnet Night event, visit the DATA, STEM and KSAT webpages to learn more.
