Student Teacher/Clinical Teacher

For External Candidates to be considered for a student teaching placement, a student must meet and complete the following by the Program Timelines:

* Students submitting a request for a different program (e.g. going from a field experience student to a student teacher in the district) must apply for each specific posting; however, student teachers completing dual assignments are not required to re-apply for a rotation change.

Geographic Preference: Every effort will be made to honor geographical preferences, when available, in the district, The Human Resources Department will place student teachers in schools and with cooperating teachers who will provide proper mentoring and supervision of students. Program coordinators and supervisors may contact the individual principals and teachers, after student teacher placements have been identified, to answer any specific program questions or to schedule cooperating teacher training sessions.

For Current NEISD Employees to be considered for a student teacher placement, a student must meet and complete the following by the Program Timelines:

  • Employee/Student must notify immediate supervisor of request to complete student teaching and must resign to fulfill course requirements. NEISD does not have paid student teacher placements.

  • Submit an online internal application by creating a profile and applying to the Student Teacher/Clinical Teacher posting;

  • Be listed on the NEISD Placement Request (pdf) form submitted by the university/program coordinator to New Talent Team at studentplacements@neisd.net
