H-E-B surprises Cibolo Green counselor

Cynthia is presented with a check

Surprise!

This morning, a prize team showed up at Cibolo Green Elementary School with big news and a big check.

Cibolo Green counselor Cynthia Silguero-Gaytan was named a finalist in the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards program. She was surprised with the news by H-E-B representatives, fellow school staff and North East ISD leadership.

As a counselor, she’s been helping children, parents and staff for the past 14 years at Cibolo Green. Her students were beyond excited to see H-E-Buddy walk into the classroom and hear the good news.

“I’m passionate about what I do," said Silguero-Gaytan. "There were so many people that helped my family in the school system, and that made a huge impression on me.”

Her selection as a finalist came with a $1,000 check for herself and a $1,500 check for the school.

Overall state winners will be announced at an awards ceremony later this spring.

Created in 2002, the H E B Excellence in Education Awards are designed to honor outstanding public school professionals and to thank them for their dedication and commitment. Through this program, H E B seeks to pay tribute to those educators who go the extra mile each and every day to serve their students and their communities and who inspire others to do the same.
