2021/2022 Impact Report
- Cibolo Green students celebrated International Dot Day and participated in these creative activities:K-2 participated in STEAM dot activities and used the Quiver app to make their decorated dot come to life in 3D form while in the library. The librarian also created Dot Day to Go Activity Bags for grades 3-5 which involved creating a paper chain with only paper and dot stickers.
- Kindergarten Club - Storybook STEAM activities: Fourteen Kinder students visited the library once a month to participate in STEAM activities based on various storybooks. These activities included Winter Stories, Fairy Tales, Leprechauns, and Dr. Seuss’s stories and stations.
- Kindergarten WIN (What I Need)Time/Author Study Group: Students were selected based on their MAP scores (95th percentile or higher). In pairs, students read an Amelia Bedelia book and answered questions by drawing illustrations and writing sentences. They also kept a Wonder Word journal for unfamiliar words. Students were also introduced to basic dictionary skills.
- Texas Bluebonnet Award program: Students in 3-5 grades were invited to read "5 Then Decide" from the 2021-22 Texas Bluebonnet list. Participating students were given a tracking sheet to record what they read. Students who read 5 books by the 3rd week of January were invited to the Bluebonnet Bash where they cast votes and received prizes such as books, pencils, and bookmarks.
- Virtual author visit with Aaron Reynolds: Students in grades 2-5 had the opportunity to visit with Mr. Reynolds on February 10th, 2022. He spoke with them about the latest book in the Fart Quest series and his writing process.

- Second Grade Inventors Research: The Cibolo Green librarian collaborated with 2nd grade teachers to make a list of resources and a note-taking guide for this unit. The librarian curated a list of resources that included PebbleGo, trustworthy websites, and nonfiction books. The librarian created a video to show students how to use PebbleGo and how to take notes. The students created a poster of their inventor as an end product.
- Kindergarten Animal Research: Worked with the Kindergarten teachers to provide student lessons for their animal research unit. The librarian provided note-taking sheets, print and digital resources, and taught a lesson showing students how to take notes in their research journals.
- 3rd Grade Rapid Changes to the Earth's Surface Research: The librarian and teachers collaborated on creating a note-taking journal for student use. The librarian provided a note-taking lesson and shared curated resources for this unit via the Cibolo Green Library page.
- Worked with 4th grade teachers to identify 25 fourth graders to participate in Genius Hour during WIN (What I Need) time. This was a 4-week unit taught by the librarian. Students chose a topic of interest to learn more about through research and created a PowerPoint presentation or an artifact to help them present findings to their peers.
- During Hour of Code Week, the librarian worked with 2nd grade students using various online coding activities. These activities included Kodable, code.org, and Candy Quest.
3rd grade Digital Scavenger Hunt Using Flippity A group of 20 third grade students participated in a 4-week inquiry/research project with the librarian during our campus WIN (What I Need) tutoring time. The librarian designed this activity with the campus Instructional Technology Specialist, Laura Moore. Students were given three broad topics (space, rapid changes, and Black history) to choose from for their research after reviewing grade level social studies and science TEKS. A Google Classroom was created which allowed students access to resources that were curated by the librarian. Students were asked to find eight fun facts with resources about their topic. These eight fun facts were then transferred to the Flippity template found in the Google Classroom. The completed digital scavenger hunts were shared with the 3rd grade classroom teachers.
- The Cibolo Green Librarian participated in planning weekly lessons and library special events via Teams with a fellow librarian’s personal learning network. Some of these lessons/units included Hispanic Heritage Month, Holidays Around the World, Holocaust Remembrance Week, and National Poetry Month.
- The librarian worked with 5th grade teachers to create an alternative energy resources unit for students. The librarian curated a choice board of online resources, pulled nonfiction print books, and created a note-taking sheet for student use. She also produced a short video lesson to review note-taking and citation skills.
- The librarian worked with the first grade teachers to identify 28 students who scored in the 95th percentile or higher in RAP reading fluency. These students participated in a 4-week study of Holiday Traditions Around the World. The highlight of our study was a presentation on Norway with one of our second grade parents, Mrs. Lamb. She brought traditional holiday treats and helped the students make a traditional Julekurver (woven heart ornament).
- The librarian teamed up with the STEAM assistants to ensure that they had access to the NEISD STEAM curriculum for their daily lessons. She also collaborated with the campus administrative assistant to make sure that the materials STEAM assistants needed were ordered and delivered to them on time.
- A winter break reading challenge was created in collaboration with our Instructional Intervention Teacher (IIT), Anaiah Smith. A link to the reading challenge tracking sheet was sent to parents for them to print at home. Students completed 10 out of the 20 reading activities and had them initialed by parents for confirmation of participation. A total of 38 students completed the reading challenge.

- During a Teaching Tuesday session, the librarian presented “Using Library Resources to Amp Up Your Lessons” to staff members. The following resources were highlighted: Discovery Ed (Mystery Science, Activity Center, and DE Spotlights) and various features of Learn 360.
- The librarian served as the campus representative on the PTA Disbursement Committee. The purpose of the committee was to decide how to best use the PTA yearly disbursement funds for the good of the entire campus. Some options for how the funds would be used would be chosen from the following: a new die cut machine, poster maker, grounds upkeep and outdoor seating.
- The Cibolo Green Librarian shared library news via morning video announcements, eblasts to parents, and the Principal's Turbo Times Weekly Newsletter. Library news examples included reading challenges, new book arrivals, book fair information, and updates on our campus adopted calf, Opal, through the Adopt a Cow program.
- The librarian was a member of the School Wildly Important Goal (SWIG) and Campus Testing Committees. The purpose of the SWIG committee was to report on campus-wide progress on goal achievement via the SWIG bulletin board and report progress on weekly morning announcements. This committee also planned school-wide celebrations for these achievements.
- The librarian attended Leader in Me campus training in August. This training focused on creating personal WIGs (Wildly Important Goals) and sharing them within the school community and having an accountability partner to ensure the completion of the goal.
