Welcome to ELAR6!

  • Hello, my name is Mrs. Coryell and I am your 6th grade ELAR teacher!  I can't wait to work with you for our 90 minute block to improve your love of reading and writing as well as your skills!  My number one goal for you is to find the perfect thing for you to read that will make you a more literate student.

This is my first year teaching at Driscoll Middle School - and my first year in San Antonio! - but I have been teaching middle school for 16 years.  I am originally from Southern California and have spent my career teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade English Language Arts, & Social Studies in Norwalk, California (near Los Angeles).  I received both my Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from California State University, Long Beach.

I have an amazing family who I love very much!  I have a husband and two young daughters, Hannah who is 3 and Joanna who is 1.  We have two dogs (Duncan & Chloe) and two box turtles (Max & Duke).  As a family, we love visiting National Parks, amusement parks (we're going to seriously miss Disneyland), museums, and zoos.

I can't wait to get to know each one of you and your families!

    Sincerely,

    Mrs. Coryell
