BA in English from Our Lady of the Lake University

Mrs. Dana Lopez

My name is Dana Lopez and I am excited to be joining the ISA family! This will be my first year as a Globie and my fourth year teaching. Previously, I taught 10th grade English in EISD. My husband David and I have two sons, 8 and 10, who also go to school in NEISD. I am excited to be working in the same community I live in.

Though teaching was what I wanted to do since I was a high school student myself, I took the scenic route to getting here. After my own high school graduation in Washington state, I served in the US Navy for six years during which I was stationed here in San Antonio at Lackland AFB. It was here I met my husband, a San Antonio native, and I have been living here since 2003. After my time in the Navy, I spent several years working for a bank and then finally decided to pursue my college education. I graduated summa cum laude with my BA in English from Our Lady of the Lake University in the spring of 2018.

When I'm not at work, I enjoy reading, travelling, taking cross country road trips, and spending time with my family.

At ISA, I will be teaching English Electives! My Fall classes are Creative Writing and Practical Writing, and in the Spring, I will be teaching Analyzing Visual Media and Literary Genres.
