NEISD Science Adoption - Community Input

The State Board of Education (SBOE) issued Proclamation 2024 at its April 2022 meeting to call for science, grades K–12 instructional materials. The science materials underwent a Quality Review Process through the Texas Resource Review (TRR). This process was created by and for Texas educators to provide quality reviews that are independent, objective, comprehensive, and Texas focused. Based on this review, the SBOE published the list of materials districts could adopt through the EMAT system. That list is linked here. The adopted materials will go into classrooms in the 2024–25 school year.
In January and February of 2024, NEISD faculty and staff evaluated and reviewed instructional materials utilizing a rubric (click here for sample rubric). Teachers completing the evaluation rubric were eligible to vote for an instructional resource as part of the adoption process. We are now seeking additional feedback from parent and community members through the survey linked below. This survey will be active from March 7, 2024 through March 22, 2024.

In the table below you will find the finalists selected by our faculty and staff from the SBOE approved lists. You will also find a link for you to access these materials, along with a username and password allowing you to log into each publishers resources. If you are wanting to preview any of the print materials that are part of the adoption, NEISD will be hosting a Community Event on Wednesday, March 20, at The North East Sports Park (12001 Wetmore Rd, San Antonio, TX 78247) from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. During this event, students, parents and community members will be able to preview any of the instructional materials NEISD is considering for adoption in Science.
