• Proclamation 2024 (K-12 Science)

The State Board of Education (SBOE) issued Proclamation 2024 at its April 2022 meeting to call for science, grades K–12 instructional materials. The science materials underwent a Quality Review Process through the Texas Resource Review (TRR). This process was created by and for Texas educators to provide quality reviews that are independent, objective, comprehensive, and Texas focused. Based on this review, the SBOE published the list of materials districts could adopt through the EMAT system.  That list is linked here.  The adopted materials will go into classrooms in the 2024–25 school year.

As publishers begin to reach out to districts and campuses about their products, there are some important things to consider.  First of all, North East ISD is a CLOSED DISTRICT.  This means that publishers are required to go through Central Office for all communications about their products.  In addition, many vendors are also hosting events outside of the school day and are offering gifts, such as meals, gift cards, or other promotional items.  Acceptance of such gifts would be considered a conflict of interest, and would result in consequences that could prevent you from participating in the adoption process.

NEISD has recruited a group of teachers representing each campus that will help coordinate Proclamation 2024 activities at their campus.  This group received training on the New TEKS in the Fall of 2023.  They will be coordinating opportunities for teachers to preview Instructional Materials on campus during a window of time from January 16, 2024-February 15, 2024.  They will also be responsible for passing information relating to the adoption to staff at their campus. To learn more about who serves on this committee and the activities of this committee, you can visit the website linked here.

Any teacher wishing to VOTE on instructional materials is required to complete an EVALUATION RUBRIC for ALL instructional materials being considered for adoption.  The links on the left-hand side of this page will take you to the instructional materials that are being considered.  On each page you can create your own copy of the evaluation rubric specific for the level you teach.  The voting window for this proclamation will run from February 19, 2024 through February 23, 2024.

NEISD will be hosting three vendor events so that teachers will be able to view products and ask questions about the products.  We have also established this website so that teachers can preview the digital components of some of the products that are up for adoption.    The three vendor fair dates are:

January 24- High School Products- 4:15 PM - 6:00 PM @ Piper Bass (Eduphoria Link)

February 7- Middle School Products- 4:15 PM - 6:00 PM @ Piper Bass (Eduphoria Link)

February 8- Elementary School Products- 3:45 PM - 6:00 PM @ Piper Bass (Eduphoria Link)

In addition, NEISD is also conducting three session on Super Saturday (February 10, 2024) to help teachers learn about the New TEKS and evaluate the instructional materials that are being considered.  These sessions are linked below:
