Creating Patrons with Insignia ILS: Parent and Community 

Do NOT add in new students or staff.  They will be added via the nightly connection with Skyward.  Add in the following patrons as needed. 

Parent Accounts

User ID (the barcode) will be one of the two following account structures. 

• PAR+Student ID# of their student
• ALT+Student ID# to be used only if a second parent wants a separate account and they only have one student at NEISD

**Parents created in Insignia will NOT automatically have an OverDrive account. A separate account will need to be created for parents who want access to the NEISD OverDrive collection. 

Community Accounts

Community members can have Destiny accounts to check out physical books if they are working directly with NEISD students, ie mentors

• COM+7 digit cell phone number
• Patron Circulation Type for Parent or Community Accounts
  • ES Parent/Community
  • MS Parent/Community
  • HS Parent/Community
• Patron Group for Parent or Community Accounts
  • Parent/Community

• Select Patron>Find/Add Patron

• Click New Patron

• Enter information for highlighted fields
  • Click Save

** Community members CANNOT have OverDrive accounts. We have an agreement with OverDrive that only students and immediate family members may have access to our digital collection. **

Parent Accounts in OverDrive: Librarians will create accounts with the OverDrive User Login Manager
