Celebrating LEE's 2024 Summa Cum Laude Students
North East ISD is proud to celebrate the Summa Cum Laude students at Legacy of Educational Excellence (LEE) High School. These ceremonies honor the incredible accomplishments of the dedicated students who are graduating from high school with grade point averages above 100. These young men and women mastered every academic test we placed before them and exceeded the highest standards, but they wouldn’t be here without the teachers who inspired them.
Wendell Blake Harris III is one of LEE’s exceptional Summa candidates. Tonight, he will honor his coach and father, Wendell Harris.
“Tonight, I am recognizing a man most of you know as Coach Harris, but I’ve always known him as Dad. I am acknowledging him because of the way he has pushed me through the years to be a better version of myself. Although he was my coach, he made sure I understood the importance of being a student-athlete and prioritized the student aspect over the athlete. Thanks to my dad, I am determined to pursue my dreams of attending college and making my family proud. I am profoundly grateful for my dad’s unwavering support throughout my life.”
Eric Giovanni Martinez is honoring his Culinary Arts Teacher, Marnique Jourdan-Davis.
“I’m honoring Ms. Jourdan-Davis, my culinary arts teacher, because no other teacher has pushed me like she has, no other teacher has taught me more than she has, and no other teacher has prepared me for the real world more than she has. Even though she was the toughest on me by far, she’s also the one who cared the most about my successes and wanting me to actually give it my all in the kitchen. I’m grateful for everything she has allowed me to create and learn in the culinary world and will continue to use the skill I learned after I graduate.”
