Perelstein’s classroom is full of music, fun and motivation. It’s also filling up with awards. Perelstein has just been named a 2023-2024 KENS 5 EXCEL Award winner. KENS 5 Anchor Sarah Forgany and KENS 5 partner Credit Human recently surprised Perelstein in class and presented her with the EXCEL Award and a check for $1,000.
“Mrs. Perelstein is such an outstanding teacher and role model for the students at Nimitz Middle School,” said Philip Flynn, NEISD Fine Arts Director of Music Program. “Aside from the wonderful musical opportunities she gives to her students, she teaches them about compassion, responsibility, and service. We are so grateful to have Mrs. Perelstein in NEISD!”
Perelstein is NEISD’s reigning 2023 Secondary Teacher of the Year. She is also the 2024 Teacher of the Year for ESC-20. ESC-20 is one of Texas's 20 regional education service agencies that assist school districts.
