It’s official – North East ISD’s Jennifer Perelstein is the 2024 ESC-20 Secondary Teacher of the Year!
Perelstein is the Choir Teacher at Nimitz Middle School. She also happens to be NEISD’s reigning 2023 Secondary Teacher of the Year.
She was surprised with the news at the Legacy of Educational Excellence (LEE) High School convocation today.
Connecting with her students and their families is important to Perelstein. She’s known for inspiring her students to pursue their love for music and songwriting. She’s also known for going above and beyond to care for her kids, even if that means delivering groceries to a family in need.
“The whole idea is to build better people through art. I have never been disappointed in a day’s work. I go home and I go, ‘That was a good day’s work.’”
ESC-20 is one of 20 regional education service agencies within Texas that assist school districts.
