Roan Forest music teacher earns back-to-back Grammy nominations

Matthew Trevino ranks among some of the top music educators in the nation. The Roan Forest Elementary School music teacher has earned a 2021 Music Educator Award nomination courtesy of the Recording Academy and Grammy Museum. This is the second year in a row that Trevino has been named a quarterfinalist.

“I believe this nomination is a testament to the amazing things our students are doing and to the value the Roan Forest community places on the music program,” said Trevino. “Much love to all of my music teacher colleagues. What we do is so important and special. You are some of the hardest working people around. Thank you for bringing music to the world.”

Trevino teaches general music classes for kindergarten through fifth-grade students, but there’s nothing simple about his courses. Roan Forest musicians have been known to perform across San Antonio venues, including the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts and San Antonio Spurs games.

The Music Educator Award recognizes current educators who are committed to making a significant and lasting contribution to the field of music education.

Congratulations Mr. Trevino!
