ETA teacher’s innovative teaching gets noticed

“We feel that we are bringing a cutting-edge curriculum to our kids,” said Roosevelt’s Engineering and Technology Academy Director, Robert Lozano. He couldn’t be prouder of the recognition one of his team members is receiving.

Certified Engineering Teacher Morgan Lund has just been awarded the Dee Howard Foundation’s STEM Education Excellence Award, one of only two winners in the entire country. The committee was very impressed with her work, particularly with engineering design and presentation, and her work with various projects and clubs. And her students are just as impressed.

“Students that have taken Ms. Lund this year, for the first year really talked highly about her skills her capacity, her willingness to go in there and lead from the front, get in there, get her hands dirty with the projects,” said Lozano.

“It’s an honor to be recognized, I think the getting more recognition for STEM education is important as we continue to try and push that through education,” said Lund. “I think it’s a really good move to get kids excited about learning and to get them ready to learn more in college, for them to have seen some of these concepts and have an opportunity to think a certain way, in an engineering way, is really going to help them out in whatever they end up doing.”

Lund will officially receive her award in March at the San Antonio Aviation and Aerospace Hall of Fame Awards.
