KSAT students inspire at the CORE 4 STEM Convention

The Krueger School of Applied Technologies (KSAT) Student Launch Team in the Advanced Principles of Engineering class had a unique opportunity to teach more than 250 students from numerous districts about aerospace basics and STEM careers.

The students participated in the CORE4 STEM Convention on Tuesday, Nov. 5. The goal of the three-day event is to highlight the educational and career opportunities in STEM industries. The KSAT students were some of the youngest presenters in the lineup.

The students used ziplines to launch balloon rockets. They were testing if mass affects acceleration.  They completed three trials without weight and three trials with weight.  After the data was collected, they made calculations for speed and acceleration and discussed independent, dependent and hidden variables in their conclusions.

The KSAT Student Launch Team presented among big industry names, such as Boeing, Valero, Toyota and the United States Airforce just to name a few!  This event was held over two days and they taught three sessions a day that were 50 minutes long.  When not teaching, the KSAT Student Launch Team was able to network with numerous San Antonio industries and colleges. Seeing actual careers in STEM and teaching lessons about STEM topics made for an amazing experience for all.
