Huebner Elementary School has a long standing tradition that celebrates the opening of school every year. A student-led ceremony/assembly is held to explain the significance of the flag as it is flown near schools. Students explain during the assembly how the flag is a symbol of a love for our country and what it stands for.
Huebner's teachers and staff are also introduced and celebrated at the ceremony. Churchill High School ROTC opens the ceremony with the posting of colors, and the drumline and cheer team generates enthusiasm for another school year. The students and staff wear school colors and they ceremony traditionally closes with the singing of the school song by the student body.
