Johnson JROTC air rifle team competes in Alabama

The Johnson High School JROTC Precision Air Rifle team hit their marks at the Army JROTC Service Air Rifle Championships in Anniston, Alabama. Johnson finished 7th overall out of all competing JROTC Precision teams. This is the 4th time Johnson has advanced to this championship contest and while they did not place high enough to move on to the All Service Championship, the team put up some of their best scores to date. The Johnson Air Rifle team was one of three teams representing North East ISD, one of six teams from San Antonio and one of nine teams representing Texas.

The team later found out that they have qualified to compete in the Civilian Marksmanship Program Wester Regional Championships in April. This is a qualifier on the path to nationals. The upcoming event will feature more than 230 competitors from more than a dozen states.

Congratulations to team members Bella Gamez, Isabella Rios, Isabella LaHaye, Bradley Knight, and Michael Winslow.
