Roosevelt Senior Finds Career Confidence at CTEC

Carlos stands by an HVAC Unit at CTECRoosevelt High School senior Carlos Vela is well on his way to landing his dream job.

North East ISD’s Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) has prepared him to enter the HVAC industry with valuable Industry-Based Certifications (IBCs) and real-world experience.

“I see it with everyone here, whether it’s electrical, construction or plumbing,” said Vela. “You get a big head start by joining CTEC. It really helps you know where to start and then go right into the field and find work.”

HVAC runs in the family for Vela. His father operates his own HVAC company, so Vela has been planning to join the family business his whole life. Which means he’s been dreaming of attending CTEC since fifth grade.

Vela’s experience is unique. He already has industry ties, and this has allowed him to become a leader in the HVAC pathway. He has watched his classmates, many with no ties to trade industries, flourish in a supportive environment with a wealth of opportunities.

“For someone who has no background in these industries, CTEC can connect you with businesses and get you a part-time job. It doesn’t matter what trade. Join it and give it a try. They’re going to take care of you here at CTEC and set you up for success.”

With hands-on learning, qualified instructors, and real-world learning opportunities, CTEC can prepare every student for a bright future in the career of their choice. Don’t miss your opportunity to join this life-changing magnet school program.

You can submit your application to join CTEC today. Remember, the deadline to apply is Monday, Jan. 20.
