In this unit, students will begin to recognize and understand the traditions, history, and legacies of AAPI cultures.
Essential Questions
• What are some key elements of AAPI culture, and how have they changed over time?
• How have AAPI communities contributed to American society?
• What challenges have members of AAPI communities faced?
• What can we learn from the history and experiences of AAPI communities, and how can this knowledge help us be more empathetic and understanding toward different cultures?
Optional Activity: Create an AAPI Cultural Heritage Museum
Have students research and create a museum exhibit showcasing a specific aspect of AAPI cultural heritage. The exhibit may include artifacts, photographs, artwork, and other visual aids to promote awareness and understanding of AAPI culture.
