Mr. Newton

Born and raised in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Mr. Newton is beginning his sixth year teaching in Texas. He brings experience from the fields of manufacturing, music, college teaching, and state government to the classroom. With six kids of his own, he understands that each student learns differently and brings their own experiences and perspectives to the table. Preferring to be outdoors, Mr. Newton can be found walking trails, fishing, or camping if he is not at school...and always reading a book.

Mr. Newton enjoys writing and playing the piano, and strives to incorporate a broad range of interests into his instruction of math. He believes that positive, encouraging, and trusting relationships are vital to the learning environment and provides students with opportunities to get to know and work with one another in ways that build confidence and access to knowledge. Math can be difficult and boring, but Mr. Newton incorporates strategies and activities to make his classes engaging and fun. He has taught middle school math in Fort Worth, Arlington, and San Antonio. Mr. Newton dreams of publishing a novel that someone besides his mother will buy, and he also wants to inspire all of his students to recognize the beauty and wonder of learning new things and to learn to be happy without social media.
