    The Liberty Guard Armed Drill team is Johnson High School's Varsity Armed Drill Team. Armed Drill is a military sport that tests the unity, camaraderie, athleticism, preparation, confidence, and precision of a unit. Johnson's team preforms on the national level against the best school's in the country.

    In Armed Drill, a team is graded in four performances: Inspection, Regulation, Exhibition, and Color Guard. Inspection tests the confidence, preparation, uniform, and knowledge of a team. Regulation tests the team's ability to preform military parade marches. Exhibition tests the precision, trust, and skill of a team's ability to form creative complex marches and preform spins, exchanges, and throws. Color Guard is a four man team-two guards and two flag carriers-who compete in their own regulation and inspection phases: 

    • The Armed Drill team is Split up into several Groups.
    • The Varsity 12+ Cdr man team is Liberty Guard
    • The JV 9+ Cdr team is Freedom Guard
    • The 4 Man Varsity Color Guard
    • The 4+ Man JV Color Guard
    • 5-man Performance Drill Team

    In order to be on the Varsity or JV team, one must come to armed drill practice. The Varsity and JV team are decided by the beginning of September. In order to be on Color Guard, one must go to Color Guard practice. You do not have to be on Color Guard to be on Armed Drill and vice versa. The 5-man team are the top 5 best varsity team members, and any varsity member can challenge a current 5-man for their spot on the team. The 5-man and Color Guard team's give performances for the community through out the year.
