Follett Remote Set-Up Directions
Follett Remote allows you to circulate materials when the network is down or when you are working in an area of the school without a network connection. It even allows you to circulate resources during a power outage if you have a charged device with Follett Remote installed.
Click here for zipped .exe file (Extract File - then drag FollettRemote.exe file to desktop and double click)
1. Go to the NEISD Software Center.
2. Search for Follett Remote by typing in Follett in the top right corner search field.
3. Click Install.
4. Exit out of Software Center.
To Launch Follett Remote: Desktop> Follett Remote> OK> Change> Desktop> OK> Repeat for all 4 > OK
1. Go to the Desktop. Click Follett Remote.
2. The first time Follett Remote launches, a prompt appears asking you to set up the initial locations to use for the Follett Remote data files. Click OK.
3. This next step allows you to designate where the transaction files will be saved. Click Change, scroll up to top of small window and choose Desktop. Click OK. Repeat for all 4.
4. Once file locations all read “Desktop” at the end, click Save.
5. Set up is complete!
Circulating Offline with Follett Remote
To Perform a Remote Library Circulation - Check Out: Follett Remote> Check Out> ID #> Scan Barcodes
1. On the device with Follett Remote installed, double-click Follett Remote from the desktop.
2. Click Checkout. The cursor appears in the Patron field.
3. Scan patron barcode or enter in patron’s NEISD ID number. It is ok if the “P” appears before the ID number when scanning. If you are typing in the number, press ENTER.
Note: NEISD ID number must be used. Follett Remote Does NOT work with patron names.
4. In the Scan copy field, scan barcodes of the copy(ies) the patron is checking out.
Note: Once you enter the patron’s ID number, the patron’s number will disappear from the “Scan Patron” field, and the cursor will move to the “Scan copy” field. You will be able to tell you are checking out books to a specific person because the “Previous Scan” field to the left will tell you the patron to whom you are checking out each resource.
Note: The Previous Scans section shows the last 13 scans of patron and copy barcodes for both
Check Ins and Check Outs.
5. To begin a check out for a new patron, click New Patron and enter or scan new patron number.
Note:You can easily switch back and forth between checking in and checking out materials during your Follett Remote session.
To Perform a Remote Circulation - Check In: Check In> Scan barcode(s)
1. Click Check In, scan the barcode(s) of the library copies that you are checking in.
2. Continue to scan or type barcode numbers for all of the items you are checking in.
Uploading Follett Remote File> Exit> Destiny Via Launchpad> Circulation> Offline Circulation> Choose File> Desktop> Select File> Open> Upload Scans> Refresh List> View> Confirm
1. When you are finished checking in and checking out all the copies, click File and Exit. The circulation file is automatically saved to the Desktop.
2. When Destiny is up and running again upload the circulation file.
Note: You should upload the data file to Destiny as soon as possible to keep the circulation data in Destiny current.
3. To upload circulation file, log into Destiny normally through LaunchPad.
4. Select Circulation > Offline Circulation.
5. Click Choose file, and then scroll up to find the Follett Remote folder on your Desktop.
6. Select the file you want to upload, and then click Open.
Note: If you have multiple data files, choose the oldest file first to ensure check ins and check outs are tracked accurately.
7. Click Upload Scans. The Job Manager opens once the file is uploaded.
8. The job will be listed as Pending. Click Refresh List to update the job status and click view.
9. After you confirm the upload was successful by searching for an item that you know was checked out on Follett Remote, delete the data file from the Desktop on your computer.
10. Resume normal circulation procedures.
