FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
The bus is late or came too early. Who can I talk to?
All of our NEISD buses have a set schedule, and we do have GPS to track them down. Please call our terminal dispatchers to find out the location of the bus. We have 3 terminals and over 250 buses. You can call TNT terminal 210-356-9000, Central Terminal 210-356-9212 or BAC terminal 210-356-6940.

The bus is overcrowded, and the driver is not doing anything about it?
Our buses have a state legal capacity of 71 passengers. Our District consistently allows fewer students to its bus routes than the law permits. We normally carry no more than 55 students for the High school, 60 for the Middle school and 65 for Elementary.

How are school bus stops established?
Routes are based on state guidelines, district policy, and student transportation eligibility. Every effort is made to establish school bus stops near where students live. While we do not stop at the home of each student, we do use the homes of students whenever possible as a stop for students living in that area. Stop locations and distances may vary depending upon the number of students in the area and the type of area (urban/rural) served.
-
Will my student ride the same bus in the afternoon as the morning?
We attempt to route students on the same bus with the same bus driver, but this is not always possible.

How do I know if my student is eligible for transportation to school?
According to district policy, if your student's address is farther than two miles from the home campus, the student is eligible for transportation on a school bus. If the address is less than the two-mile radius to the campus, the student will not be eligible for transportation, and the guardian will be responsible for transporting the child to school. Less than two miles from school is considered the walk zone.
Areas considered hazardous would be local traffic or street conditions that put children at risk of injury if they were to walk to school. Examples include four lane streets or major traffic arteries (not residential streets) with no traffic controls nor crossing guards in the case of elementary students, or near railroad tracks, etc.
