Ms. Zei

Ms. Zei is an enthusiastic and collaborative educator on the 8th grade Ed White team. She has a keep eye for creativity and cross curricular collaboration. Jessica is passionate about history, social justice and strives to impart these passions on to her students. This is Ms.Zei's second year at Ed White.

Originally from the Chicago area, Ms. Zei moved to Texas in 2011 to serve in an AmeriCorps program called City Year. Her career in education started in a small charter school on San Antonio's Westside, where she worked with 6th graders in the math classroom. The last three years, Ms. Zei has had the privilege to be the History department at an art based high school in San Antonio. Often times working with 9-12th graders in one room, Ms. Zei has the relationship building and classroom management skills of a veteran teacher. 

Before moving, Ms. Zei completed her BA in History from Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL. After completing her City Year, Ms. Zei enrolled at UTSA and completed her Masters in Education with a concentration in curriculum and instruction from UTSA in 2015.

  • Welcome to United States History! This course will cover SOME of the following US History topics: US Geography, Native Americans, Exploration and Collinization, Causes of the American Revolution, Government, Early America, Westward expansion, and the Civil War. Throughout the course students will be challenged to develop their social studies skills, critical thinking skills, and geography skills.

    • Tutoring/Intervention- Tutoring can be scheduled with me any day after school. I will also be able to pull students for interventions during Eagle Hour. 
    • Absences and Make-up Work- It is your responsibility to pick up and complete make-up work in a timely fashion. Students should obtain make-up work BEFORE or AFTER class- not during instruction time. Students will need to ask another student for any entry tickets missed. Students must arrange to make-up missed tests or quizzes during tutoring after school. 
    • Late Work- Late work will be accepted one class period after the due date with a maximum grade of 70. I will not accept late late work, aka anything over a week late.
