Taylor Lovato-Cruz
Taylor Lovato-Cruz was born and raised in San Antonio, TX. She is an alumna of NEISD, graduating from Claudia Taylor Johnson High School in 2018. Ms. Lovato-Cruz played horn and held multiple leadership positions within the band program.
Ms. Lovato-Cruz graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas State University in 2023. While at Texas State, she studied horn with Dr. Caroline Steiger and performed as principal horn with the Texas State Wind Symphony under the direction of Dr. Caroline Beatty and Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Jacob Harrison. Ms. Lovato-Cruz was also a member of the Bobcat Marching Band as section leader and drum major, the Horn Ensemble, Bobcat Basketball Band, Ceremonial Brass, and the Vox Luminis Brass Quintet.
During the summer of 2018, she was a conductor for the Boston Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps for their production entitled, S.O.S. Ms. Lovato-Cruz has since worked with multiple groups in the central Texas area as a marching technician and clinician. In the spring of 2023, she completed her student teaching at Rouse High School under the direction of Mr. Ryan Johnstone and River Place Elementary under the supervision of Ms. Chris Simpson. She gathered many resources and received mentorship on classroom management, pedagogy, and rehearsal techniques.
Outside of band, Ms. Lovato-Cruz enjoys reading, attending concerts, and spending time with her family, friends, and cat, Hermes.
