Roan Forest Elementary School Music Teacher Matthew Trevino is now a 3-time Grammy nominee.
He’s one of 25 music educators in the country nominated for the Music Educator Award by the Recording Academy and the Grammy Museum.
As a semifinalist, the Roan Forest music department is gifted $500.
In previous years, they have used the gift to purchase instruments and invite guest musicians to speak with the students.
“We have some amazing hard-working music students, and this positive press has opened the door for us to have some pretty cool performance opportunities,” said Trevino.
“Ultimately, we have had many great experiences because of this recognition. The students deserve the world. I am honored to be on this journey with them.”
Later this year, these 25 nominees will be whittled down to 10.
The Grammy winner will be announced early next year.
