Hello! I teach Art 1 at Harris Middle School! I hold a BA in Professional Art from Doane College in Crete, Nebraska and an MA in Art History (with an emphasis in 19th Century American Art) from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. I am certified in Art and Special Education. This is my third year teaching at Harris. Prevously, I served three different elementary schools in a Maryland school district. Before that, I was an instructor for an after-school art program at several schools between San Francisco and Sacramento, CA. 

I enjoy camping, hiking, cozy gaming on my Nintendo Switch, and exploring the world through food, history, and the arts. As a professional artist, I work in with a variety of media, including watercolor, acrylics, and colored pencil. I specialize in pet portraits but also spend a lot of time doodling weird and spooky stuff. I am an Air Force military spouse and mother to one extremely spunky 7-year-old. We share our home with two beautiful rescue dogs--April (a cattle dog/boston terrier/pitbull/husky/who-knows-what-else super mutt) and BMO (a boxer/GSD/pit bull mix). 

My classroom is all about inclusion, artistic growth, and the development of visual literacy. Being "good" at art is not a requirement! Middle School Art 1 is meant to be a "sampler platter" of all that art has to offer. My students will be introduced to a wide range of methods, processes, art history, and media.
