My name is Maria Matthews, and I am eager to begin my 26th year in middle school education and my seventh year at Harris Middle School.  I am originally from El Paso, Texas where I graduated with honors from the University of Texas at El Paso and began my teaching career in sixth grade reading, English, and social studies.  I moved to San Antonio in 2007 with my amazing husband and our two beautiful children; we absolutely love it here!  In my free time I love to spend time with my family; we enjoy camping, swimming, and traveling together.  My favorite hobbies are cooking, baking, and of course, reading!
