Mrs. Tanya Sankey
Welcome to Harris! My name is Tanya Sankey, and I am a 6th grade ELAR teacher. This 2019-2020 school year marks my 25th year in education and my 14th year at Harris. Fun Fact- I actually helped open the school back in 2006, so I am an Original Harris Hawk!
My amazing career began in 1995 in Fort Stockton ISD. I was afforded the opportunity to teach and coach in my own hometown, so it was an exciting experience for me. After a few short years in Fort Stockton, a door opened up in the South Texas area, so I decided to spread my wings and leave all my family behind. Since my move, I have taught and coached for Seguin ISD and Driscoll Middle School. In 2006, Harris Middle School opened up, and I was hired to teach 8th grade English. Since I have been on staff, I have taught G/T English, 8th, 7th, and 6th grade ELAR. Currently, I teach 6th grade ELAR block and reading workshop.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in English from Sul Ross State University and a Master's Degree in Educational Administration from Concordia University.
I am thrilled about this school year. All I can say is...We are going to rock! We are Harris Hawks! With hard work, there are NO limits!
