Welcome to Dyslexia services at Encino Park Elementary! I am honored to serve our students and take great joy in helping to develop confident and highly capable readers. My experience as an educator began right after high school when I started coaching summer league swim team and providing private swim lessons. I enjoyed it so much that I continued to work at the pool every summer and eventually shifted my collegiate studies to focus on becoming a teacher. I attended Texas Tech University for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees. It was there that my passion to become the best reading teacher I could be was formed. I started teaching in 2009 and continued to learn how to provide targeted instruction to help all readers, but specifically struggling readers become proficient at reading. I loved my years teaching 1st and 2nd grade. There was nothing better than the joy at the end of a school year when I could look back and see how my students had grown as learners, but it was always their reading growth that made my heart overflow. In 2019, I dove head first into the world of Dyslexia and began learning how I could best help students identified with Dyslexia. I shifted into an intervention position on my campus and began working toward my CALT license. I am so fortunate to work in a field I am passionate about and serve students through my role.
