Mrs. Teri James
I started my teaching career in Maryland and Pennsylvania and taught for ten years in a variety of settings--classroom teacher, reading specialist, G/T specialist in elementary, middle, and high schools, adjunct professor for elementary ed undergraduates, private tutor, and adult literacy instructor.
I began teaching in NEISD in 2009 at Encino Park Elementary School. In 2015, I moved to Serna Elementary School as the Literacy Instructional Coach. In 2018, I returned to EP to serve as the Instructional Interventionist. That role has transitioned over the past few years, so that my focus is Dyslexia Therapy. Literacy is power, and I love my role in helping kiddos unlock the code of the written word. When I'm not busy with school activities, I enjoy reading, cooking and exercising. My husband and I have four children (a college freshman, a residential construction manager, a CPA, and an orthopedic surgical products specialist), a daughter-in-law (orthodontic assistant) and soon-to-be daughter-in-law (nurse). Life is changing with our kiddos growing up, but we still spend lots of our family time together, relaxing or supporting the kids in their pursuits. I'm grateful to be part of the Encino Park family.

My schedule varies throughout the week. I support growing readers and writers in small group lessons designed to meet their literacy needs.
