Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Morgan Hill

Welcome to Mrs. Hill’s 5th Grade Reading/Language Arts Class. This is my fifth year at Vineyard Ranch and I am so proud and excited to be a part of this wonderful team and campus. I taught in North East at the middle school level, then had the privilege to stay home a while raising my own babies, prior to returning to teach here in NEISD.

Before we moved to San Antonio, I taught in the Houston suburbs in Cy-Fair ISD. While teaching there I received my master's in Educational Administration and completed my Principal Internship. I earned my bachelor's from the University of Texas in Austin (Hook ‘em!) with a degree in English as a part of the U-Teach program. I am certified in EC-6 Generalist; 4-8 English, Language, Arts and Reading; Gifted and Talented; English as a Second Language; and Special Education.

Teaching reading is not only my passion, but also what I feel is my divine calling. Being an effective reader is essential to success in every area of life. Even in the fifth grade, it is important to begin mastering skills that will prepare our children to be college, career and “real life” ready. The instruction they will receive I hope will become a foundation for a range of reading experiences they will encounter throughout their lives - from contracts they will sign, determining validity of sources - including news and research outlets, to understanding the marketing and advertising surrounding them at every turn. It is crucial to be able to investigate, visualize, question, and think about what you are reading in every facet of life. Teaching students how to analyze what they read is so much more than noticing literary elements in fiction novels (although we do plenty of that too!).

We will operate within a balanced literacy program and our texts will span across many genres, purposes, authors and styles. My goal is that when they leave our classroom, they will not only be prepared for middle school and the rest of their educational careers, but also equipped with tools they will carry with them forever as effective readers, writers, analyzers and decision makers. I am honored to teach your children and each one of them helps shape my life's purpose and vision so THANK YOU for entrusting us with them.
