• How Do the Field Trips Work?

Each year, more than 4,000 elementary students take part in the Texas History Experience at Bradley’s Mill Springs Cabin. In fact, this past November we proudly welcomed our 100,000th student visitor since opening the cabin!

When students arrive, they step right into the past as they rotate through ten Texas History-themed exhibits spread across the cabin grounds. At each stop, Bradley’s 7th and 8th grade students serve as docents, delivering prepared presentations and demonstrating professional teaching skills as they share the stories and artifacts of Texas history.

As 4th graders journey from one exhibit to the next, they’ll experience pioneer living, discover life on the chuckwagon trail, and even create their own Lower Pecos rock art to take home. They’ll also explore the geographical wonders of Texas and learn about the first native Texans who made their lives on the wide-open plains.

Field trips begin the last week of October and run through the end of May, with a short winter break from January through mid-February.

At Mill Springs Cabin, history isn’t just something to read about—it’s something to experience, explore, and carry with you long after the day is done.
