Mill Springs Cabin Founder, Mike Bailey

Michael Bailey was surrounded by his close family and friends including his mother, wife and daughter on the evening of Oct. 22, 2021 when he became one of the latest Wall of Heroes honorees.

Mr. Bailey is a Churchill High School graduate who taught Texas History at Bradley Middle School for 25 years. During that time, he won many educator awards and acknowledgements including H-E-B’s Excellence in Education Lifetime Achievement Award and the Texas Humanities Award. In 1999, he established the Mills Spring Cabin which over the years has welcomed thousands of students and guests. He brings Texas History to life on the complex that includes an authentic 1800s cabin, general store, school house, trading post and museum. His passion and dedication built the complex log by log.

Although retired from the classroom now, Bailey continues to work as a consultant for the Mills Spring Cabin, which still grows to this day thanks to his creative vision.
