      Mr. Brad Henze

Hello Wood Wranglers.  It is with great honor that I serve as the principal of Wood Middle School.  I will always push our campus community to Be Better in everything that we do.

I was born and raised in New Braunfels, where I still currently reside with my wife McKenzie and our 5 children.  I attended Texas Lutheran University and graduated with a degree in Mathematics.  I was also a member of the basketball team all 4 years.  I received my masters degree in Educational Administration from Lamar University.

I began my teaching and coaching career at Bush Middle School in 2002.  I continued teaching and coaching at Clemens High School and Johnson High School.  My first assistant principal job was at Jackson Middle School.  I then spent 1 year as an assistant principal at Wood before being named as principal for the 2021-22 school year.

I knew I wanted to be a teacher at a very young age!  I attended seven elementary schools, three high schools, and one college, Kent State University, where I earned my teaching degree.  I lived and taught in Ohio when my husband and I were married!  We welcomed a baby girl into our family in 2003- the same year I earned a Master's in the Art of Teaching (Curriculum & Instruction).  My husband's work brought us to Texas in 2006 and I am so happy to have worked at John H. Wood Middle School since the 2007-2008 school year!  I was the Instructional Coach for Science for six years and the Instructional Coach for Math for one year.  I loved this position because I was able to see our students grow in both contents!  My "spare time" is usually spent with my family and friends!  I love football, especially college, but am a Cleveland Browns fan through and through!  I look forward to meeting you this year as I now serve as Academic Dean of Instruction!  Let's go Wranglers!

      Mrs. Heidi Curry

It is with complete joy and honor that I  introduce myself to you as your Wood Middle School Assistant Principal. I am extremely excited to partner with you to ensure that your child develops a strong academic foundation at Wood Middle School.

My educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Leadership from Texas A&M San Antonio.
The 2022-23 school year will mark my 22nd year in education, all of which have been served in Northeast ISD.

On a personal note, I am originally from the small town of Douglas, Wyoming. My husband Bob is an Assistant Principal at Lopez Middle School, and we have one 14-year-old son named Jimi who is a Freshman at Churchill High School. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, outdoor activities, and going to baseball games.
Values that I bring to Wood Middle School are based on my educational experiences and include an emphasis on building meaningful/honest relationships, creating a climate of collaboration, and establishing two-way communication. I believe that strong, trusting relationships (at every level) are at the core of student learning. I also believe that if we live our values, they become a part of our culture, drive decisions and have the power to improve schools. As Assistant Principal, I will work with all stakeholders to support a shared vision and make sure that everyone not only feels valued, but also understands their role in supporting and empowering students to reach their full academic potential.

      Ms. Stephanie Ontiveros

My name is Stephanie Ontiveros and I am excited to introduce myself as the new Assistant Principal for John H. Wood Middle School. I am honored to have the opportunity to assist in leading a school with high performing students, dedicated staff, and a supportive parent and school community.

I was born and raised in Houston, Texas and recently moved to the San Antonio area. I began my educational career eight years ago in Houston, and have previously served as a high school social studies teacher, department chair, campus mentor, and assistant principal. I believe that great schools are a result of great teachers, staff, parents, and community members. It is my goal to help grow our campus community through communication, professional development, and collaboration with all stakeholders.

In addition to my professional achievements, my greatest accomplishment is my family. I am a wife to my loving and supportive husband, Erik and a mother to our amazing daughter, Autumn. As a parent, I always want what is best for my child and will work tirelessly to ensure your children have the best possible experience at John H. Wood Middle School.

I am honored and humbled to serve as the new Assistant Principal at John H. Wood Middle School and look forward to meeting the students, staff, parents, and community members. My door is always open to you, and I sincerely welcome your input and support. I am excited about all we will accomplish together for our students.
